My Why
In order to figure out my why, my purpose in life, I filled out the sheet stating my best and worst school/work and personal experiences. When I reflected back upon them, it made me realize how much they connected with the competency I had picked which was agility and adaptability. All the worst experiences made me more agile towards unpredictability of life and best experiences made me more adaptable due to the positivity I was feeling around me. Figuring out my best and worst experiences was easy but connecting it to my values and competency to figure out my why statement was really tough for me. Firstly, I was unable to understand how to write the why statement and how to connect my purpose (why) in life from which others benefit. I was solely basing it on myself or few individuals very close to me such as “my why is to have a positive attitude towards life so that we can live life to the fullest” or “my why is to be open to new experiences so that we can be more accepting towards change.” As mentioned before, both these statements were personal and not giving towards people around me. After deep thinking, I found my why in life;
“My why is to never let anyone give up because only after persistence comes achievement and success.”
This why came to me when I tired to find a theme in all my best and worst experiences. Before I was focusing on only positive and good experiences but then I tired to connect good and bad together which brought me to conclusion that I never give up. I have targets and aims which are sometimes hindered but I do not let anything stop me as I adapt myself to the current situation and continue striving towards my goal. My worst memories are failing a course and best were being exceptional in a course and in both situations, I did not give up because of disappointment or being full of myself and continued towards achievement, which is to successfully finish my degree. This is my why, where I hope people around me learn to never give up through my influence on them.
Moving forward, I hope to work on my why and be able to create a stronger impact. Also, I wish to continue making it adaptable as per my competency because nothing in this life stays static and there is constant change happening. There is one thing which will stay consistent in my why statement which is to never give up but my goals will adapt and change as life progresses and I hope people around me can also benefit from my why in life. They learn to never give up in whatever it is they believe because persistence can do wonders.
